The Boston Celtics compete in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. The San Antonio Spurs compete in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association. The team was founded in 1967, but did not become known as the Spurs until the 1973 season. The Spurs play their home games at the AT&T Center. This venue opened in 2002, which makes it one of the newest arenas in the league.
