The Philadelphia 76ers (also known as the Sixers for short) are a professional basketball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

As of Tuesday, December 19th, 2006, Allen Iverson, along with Ivan McFarlin, has been sent to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for guard Andre Miller, forward Joe Smith, and two first-round draft picks.

On Thursday, January 11th, 2007, Sixers GM Billy King announced that the Sixers and aging forward Chris Webber have agreed to a buyout of the remainder of his contract. The Sixers will be paying Webber $36 million over the next 1 1/2 seasons, which is $7 million less than he would have been paid to play. After the buyout, the Sixers waived Webber, making him a free agent. Webber signed with the Detroit Pistons shortly thereafter.

In the midst of these major changes, the 76ers have looked to their younger players who must now take on greater responsibilty for the team's success. Rising stars Andre Iguodala and Kyle Korver have proven their worth by rewriting their career highs in points on different occasions. Throughout this season of transition, Philadelphia will look to build on their young team and, thereafter, to benefit from their three first-round picks in the 2007 NBA Draft, which many believe is the best draft pool in the last 10 years.

The New Jersey Nets compete in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. Since being founded in 1967, the organization has been called several different names. From 1967 to 1968 the team was known as the New Jersey Americans. From 1968 to 1977 they were the New York Nets. And then in 1977 they changed to New Jersey, but kept the Nets name. But no matter what name the organization has gone by, they have always competed with a high level of success.

The Nets play their home games at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This venue opened in 1981, and is widely considered one of the most outdated arenas in the league. But with a capacity of over 20,000, the Nets always have a home court advantage no matter who is on the schedule.

The Nets have never won an NBA championship, but have had some success over the years. They won their division in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006. This is in addition to conference titles in 2002 and 2003.

Some of the greatest players to compete for the Nets include Nate Archibald, Rick Barry, Julius Erving, Darryl Dawkins, and Drazen Petrovic among many others.

The New Jersey Nets have had a lot of success as of late. The organization is hoping to turn this success into an NBA championship sooner rather than later.
