Washington Wizards Information:
The Washington Wizards compete in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association. Although they were founded in 1961, they have not always been known as the Washington Wizards. From 1961 to 1962 they were known as the Chicago Packers; from 1962 to 1963 the Chicago Zephyrs; from 1963 to 1972 the Baltimore Bullets; from 1973 to 1974 the Capital Bullets; from 1974 to 1997 the Washington Bullets; and then in 1997 they finally became the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards play their home games at the Verizon Center located in Washington, D.C. They began playing in this venue in 1997, and have been there ever since. While the Verizon Center is not as new as some other arenas in the NBA, it is one of the most modern in the entire league.
The organizations only NBA championship came in 1978. In addition, they have also won four conference titles as well as seven division titles. Although they have not been as dominant as of late, the Wizards are moving in the right direction.
Many great players have competed for the Wizards over the years. Some of the best include Wes Unseld, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, and Michael Jordan among many others.
Although the team has moved around quite a bit over the years, the Wizards still have a large fan base that follow them everywhere they go.
