Oracle Arena Information:
The Oracle Arena was opened in 1966 in Oakland, California. Although this indoor arena is one of the oldest in the country, it does have many benefits to offer both fans and performers. For this reason, hundreds of sporting events, concerts, and shows stop by each year. This makes the Oracle Arena one of the most well traveled venues in the western part of the United States.
At this time there is only one primary tenant of the Oracle Arena. They are the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. While they are the only primary tenant, they do not have this venue to themselves all year long. Instead, other events also stop by on a regular basis.
While this venue is currently known as the Oracle Arena, things were not always this way. When opened more than 40 years ago it was known as the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Arena. This name held up until 1996, and at that point it was renamed The Arena in Oakland. Then once again in 2005, the name changed and for one year this venue was called the Oakland Arena. Finally, in October 2006 the Warriors and Oracle signed a ten year agreement to name the venue the Oracle Arena.
For basketball games the Oracle Arena can seat 19,596 fans. This decreases to 17,000 for hockey games. One of the biggest events to ever take place at the Oracle Arena was the 2000 NBA All Star Game. This attracted thousands of fans, and brought millions of dollars of revenue to the city.
All in all, the Oracle Arena has a lot to offer. It may not be as new and modern as some indoor arenas, but this venue can hold its own with its rich history and great atmosphere.
